About Weimaraner Rescue, Rehome and Adoption

Rescue & Rehoming

From time to time, a Weimaraner may need a new home because of changes in family circumstances, health, behaviour, housing or other unexpected situations.

The Weimaraner Club of WA provides support with rescue and rehoming, with the welfare of the dog at the centre of every decision. Where required, the Club may also assist with veterinary and other costs associated with the rehoming process.

If you need to rehome your Weimaraner

Please contact us using the Contact Form at the bottom of this page.

We understand that making the decision to rehome a dog can be difficult. Our first step is to talk with you about your Weimaraner’s health, temperament, behaviour, routines and individual needs so we can understand the situation fully and consider the most appropriate options.

Any potential new home is carefully assessed, with the aim of finding a safe, suitable and lasting placement for the dog.

Where appropriate, the Club can also provide support during the transition into a new home. This may include contact with the new owners, follow-up advice and assistance to help the dog settle successfully.

Adoption

Giving a Weimaraner a new home can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Dogs who come into care may have experienced significant change, so they need patience, stability and time to settle into their new environment.

As with any Weimaraner, building trust and a strong bond takes time. We ask prospective adopters to be prepared to provide the care, understanding and commitment each dog needs as they adjust to their new home.

If you would like to be considered for a Weimaraner needing a new home, please download and complete our Adoption Form and return it to our Rehome Team.

Our priority is always the welfare and wellbeing of the dog. Each potential home is carefully considered so we can make the best possible match between the individual dog and their new family.

How you can help

There are many ways you can support the Club’s rescue and rehoming activities:

Become a foster carer. If your home and existing pets are suited to fostering, you can register your interest with the Club. Foster carers provide a safe temporary home while a permanent home is found. We will share as much information as possible about the dog’s health, temperament and individual needs before a placement is made.

Donate useful supplies. Clean dog beds, bedding and other suitable dog supplies may be helpful when dogs come into care.

Help us find suitable homes. If you know someone who understands the breed and may be interested in adopting a Weimaraner, encourage them to contact the Club.

Support rescue fundraising. Veterinary care, medication, transport and other rehoming costs can add up quickly. Fundraising and donations help us provide the support each dog needs.

Every Weimaraner deserves the opportunity for a safe, caring and suitable home.
